About our club

The Rotary Club of Madison County was chartered in February, 2004 and welcomed as a member of Rotary International. With more than 55 active members, we meet on Thursday mornings at 7:30 AM and on the 4th Thursday at 5:30 PM in the Redway Room in Pittman Dining Hall on the Mars Hill University campus. We enjoy interacting with people with like interests, an interesting speaker, and discussions of current and future service projects.

Rotary International is the largest and oldest Service organization in the world with over 1,200,000 members in 32,000 Clubs in 166 countries around the world. Our vision statement is “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves”

We have an array of projects that focus on youth activities, community service, and International service. In the area of youth activities, each year we give a dictionary to every 3rd grade student in the county, we sponsor the Interact Club at Madison High School (a junior Rotary Club), we send students to our Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly each year, we teach Junior Achievement classes in the Madison County School system, recognize the student of the month at Madison High & Madison Early College High and employee of the month of the school system and give college scholarships to graduating seniors.

Some of our community service projects have included river cleanups and road clean ups as well as the funding of many youth related organizations and projects through our “Make a Difference” grants and funding needs in the community through Neighbors in Need and Beacon of Hope. Our international service includes funding to eradicate polio in the world, providing wheelchairs and clean water where needed.
