The Fiddlin’ 5k – April 17, 2021
Join us for the return of the Fiddlin’ 5k! Enjoy the sweet tunes of local musicians as you run or walk on our beautiful 5k route in Mars Hill, North Carolina. The Fiddlin’ 5k is a local favorite and it’s easy to understand why. In addition to the lively music, the course starts and finishes in beautiful Mars Hill where participants will be treated to spectacular mountain and rural views.
Due to the pandemic we have had to make some changes to our usual event in order to ensure the safety of participants and our community.
9:00am: Race Start
~10:30am: Award Ceremony
Virtual Race Option
Now anyone can participate. Virtual participants will receive a race shirt after April 17.
New Start Location
The 2021 Fiddlin’ 5k will will start and finish on the Otis Duck Green Way in Mars Hill. There is ample parking available. Click the link for exact directions.
New 5k route
We’re changing up the route! Enjoy the Otis Duck Greenway and venture past the Smith Property at the Bailey Mountain Preserve. Our new route is easier on the knees and takes participants off the busy roads. Check out the course map here.
ADDITIONAL COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
ON-SITE PARTICIPATION CAP: No more than 100 on-site participants will be allowed to register. There will be no day-of on-site registration and online registration will close once 100 pre-registered participants has been reached. Sign up to claim your spot in the event!
CORRALS: To help with social distancing, we will have corrals of 25 participants leaving the start line every few minutes.
MASKS: Masks are required at the start line and can be removed after you start the race.
*Packet pickup is optional, participants can still pick up race gear and bib on the morning of the event*

Out on the course we’ll be featuring 9 fantastic musical groups including: Lillian Chase & the Deadpan Stringband, Roger Howell, The Nesbitt Family Band, Hawcreek Sweet Hots & the Walker Family Band, Honeyfolk Song Circle, Greg Speas, The Madison County Junior Appalachian Music (JAM) Program, Bailee Brandon & Jerry Sutton and Lonesome Mountain Ears! You won’t want to miss our local musicians showing off their bluegrass, fiddle and mountain music. Located throughout the course you’ll be enchanted by the talented musical performances that serenade you around every corner.
