For the second year in a row, the Rotary Club of Madison County is organizing a Coat Drive to benefit residents in need in our county. In 2020 when we held our first Coat Drive – during the pandemic – we collected over 250 gently used coats and jackets from all over the county. Then, we partnered with Beacon of Hope in Marshall on the by-pass to distribute all of the coats, helping people have what they need to stay warm during the winter.
Our goal for the 2021 Coat Drive is to collect at least that many coats between now and November 11th. The police departments in Mars Hill, Marshall, and Hot Springs have offered to serve as the drop off locations. Additionally, we are working with several churches to announce and collect coats for this drive. (Confirmed churches as of October 29th are Marshall Baptist, Marshall Presbyterian, Mars Hill Baptist and St Andrews Catholic Church).
If you have coats and/or jackets to donate, please drop them off at one of the above-mentioned locations. If that is not possible, please email Rotary at: MadisonNCRotary@gmail.com or call 450-8456 and we will make arrangements to get the coats from you.
The distribution of coats will again be at Beacon of Hope on Friday, December 3rd and Monday, December 6th, from 10am to 2pm. Coats are free on a first come, first served basis (one per customer).
Thank you for helping our Madison County residents stay warm this winter!
