Coat Drive
The Second Annual Coat Drive for our Club concluded on Monday, December 6th and was deemed a success. The 238 coats that were donated and purchased went to many local residents in need of keeping warm this winter, with the excess going to the Beacon of Hope Thrift Store. Fifteen volunteers – including DG Ken Shull and his wife, Heidi – staffed the two-day coat distribution, helping customers pick out something in their size and matching their taste. It was very rewarding to see a customer walk away with the “perfect” coat.
Thanks to the committee members (Connie, Barbara & Phil, Maxine, Fifi, Nicki, Sandy, and new member Jamie Cline) who helped plan, collect, clean, hang, secure supplies, and organize the storage of the items) and thanks to all of the volunteers who worked the distribution (DG Ken & Heidi, DGND Connie, Bryant & Betsy, Barbara & Phil, Mike & Sandy, Nicki, Mike Foster, Roger, Sebastian, President Patricia, and Post-Polio Club Member Susie Fender).
If you have coats that you want to donate, we will gladly take them for the Third Annual Coat Drive which will be held next fall. Call or text 828 450-8456 or email MadisonNCRotary@gmail.com if you want to get rid of them now or you can hang on to them until October of 2022.
